Steve "Pappy" Papenfuhs is the President of Insight Training Strategies, an initiative he began after retiring from law enforcement. His goal was to maintain his commitment to advancing law enforcement training, drawing on his extensive career to contribute meaningfully to the field. Mr. Papenfuhs has a wealth of experience in delivering training programs for both new recruits and seasoned officers, focusing on practical skills and instructor development.

His interest lies in leveraging the latest research and evidence-based methods to address the complex challenges faced by law enforcement, with a particular emphasis on enhancing cognition, learning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with understanding the psychological elements involved in policing.

Mr. Papenfuhs combines his experience from various roles (from a police academy trainer and Force Options Simulator instructor to a police practices expert witness) with his studies in human performance and decision-making under stress.

Pappy’s blend of experiences and knowledge informs his approach to creating training courses. His aim is to equip officers with the skills and insights needed to navigate the often volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous, and threatening environments they encounter.
