Term as Director expires May 31, 2026

With nearly 40 years as a Reserve Officer for the San Jose Police Department my service has included patrol, traffic control, disaster callouts, and special event duties. I have commanded the Training Unit, participating in physical abilities testing and oral boards, and managed the Reserve Internal Affairs Unit. I was promoted through the ranks to eventually become Chief of the Reserves. In March of 2021, I retired from my service as a Reserve Officer but continue to keep in touch with many from the San Jose Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies.

In 1990, I was introduced to the California Reserve Peace Officers Association when I attended ARPOC in Bakersfield. Not only was I impressed with the quality of POST training, but I found an association that truly met the needs of reserves in the state of California. When ARPOC’94 came to San Jose, I became involved in the planning and co-hosting of that conference. As a result, I became acquainted with association leaders and, in 1995, was appointed to the Board of Directors. My service on the CRPOA Board of Directors has been continuous, having served as vice-president and as secretary. I was assigned as the editor for the CRPOA website and the Backup Magazine and was Conference Chairman for ARPOC2004 in San Jose. My most rewarding task has been as the CRPOA Awards Committee Chairman where I am currently serving as a member. I strongly feel that it is important to honor and recognize those who selflessly volunteer their services and time to an often stressful and thankless job. Most recently, I helped negotiate bringing ARPOC 2025 back to South Lake Tahoe. I look forward to seeing our faithful conference attendees there and hope to see new faces at this year’s annual training conference.
